Indian Systems of Medicine

In India, the following systems of medicine are practised:

Ayurveda: The ancient one, about 2000 years old
Unani Tibb: Persian- Greek or Greeko-Arabic was a mixture of middle east traditions, with European influence, was introduced a 1000 years back by muslim invaders.
Siddha: It is a south Indian system with some Chinese influence, may be 1000 years old.
Allopathic system (the modern system) Introduced by European about 300 years back
Homeopathy: Introduced during british regime in the 19th century.
Amachi: Practised by Tibetans, who migerated to India from Tibet
Folk-lore: Practised by local tribals all over India and may include witchcraft
House-hold remedies: The old grand ma recipes, which have percolated through word of mouth for several generations.
Astrological, may include gem therapy. May be mantra by priests, tawiz by Qazi or some animal sacrifices, mainly indulged by psychic or chronic patient, who donot get relief by normal course.
